While i has the copper and the hot spanner out i made this vase. A lovely piece of  chestnut. Carved, scorched and sealed and cut at an angle to add a bit of visual interest. Now the base was an accident. It was going to be built up as a bowl. But i turned it upside down, and the idea for the base came.

I haven’t seen scorching used before and I don’t think Ed has tried it. This will give him some ideas ( fire extinguisher at the ready!).

Very inventive base, did you glue the copper pieces together?

    Cheers all.

Dunc I  brazed the base using my small gas axe from the inside. Funny really as this was going to be a copper bowl before I turned it over

Ed. It is fun if not a little unnerving setting fire to something you’ve just spent time turning
