Made a simple ring box from Pink Ivory. A very dense and beautiful timber to turn and finish. This has been sanded to 600 grit, sealed and given a coat of microcrystalline wax to protect it.

    Thanks for looking

looking good Brody I was once told by someone that when sanding Pink Ivory you should sand down to 1200 grit or something like this if you want a great finish.

Having never turned it, I’ve yet to see if this is correct.

Cheers Ed. It’s dense that’s for sure, and I can see the justification for sanding up that high. It would be easy if you wanted a really shiny finish.
