Had our family staying over Christmas and our niece Poppy wanted to have a go on the lathe so we turned a spalted Horse Chestnut bowl with a rounded shape which has turned out lovely.
Lovely. I do like horse chestnut when it has interesting grain. I got some earlier in the year which I threw into the garage roof-space to dry after painting the ends. It split horribly, of course, but I managed to rough turn some before it got too bad.
Hopefully when the new chuck arrives I can get stuck in to some of it.
