This Smoked Oak was kindly given to me by my neighbour about a year ago and having rough turned it in the spring i have finally finished it. It turned quite easily but there were a few cracks that i filled with CA , it was too nice a wood to throw away. The finish is Danish oil  and really brings out the beauty of the bowl

That’s a nice little bowl Mark and I love the wood.

The three different colours in the wood are interesting.

Glad you like it, the photo doesn’t really do the colours the justice they deserve, before being given this Smoked oak i didn’t realise it existed and i should really have left it to dry for a few months more but i was keen to see what it was like. As soon as you start to turn you can smell the “smoke” and it turned well giving a fairly good finish straight from the tool the only negative would be having to sharpen my tools so much but this is a small price to pay.

    Regards Mark.
