I was surfing the woodturning sites looking up spiral turning techniques then came across an old thread on the AWGB forum by Hughie Mackay who is a master at turning spirals, so follow his link for a guide to spiraling http://www.woodturnersunlimited.com/index.php/tutorials/11-sculpting-spirals-on-a-bowl.
The site where this link is based is full of stuff and worth a look, it’s called Woodturners Unlimited. An American site set up for woodturners around the world and has more tutorials from fruit turning to colouring wood.
You can find the tutorials here http://www.woodturnersunlimited.com/index.php/tutorials
Cheers Ed. There’s some good stuff on there! Never done any spiral work, but I’ve just seen the tutorial for spirals on a bowl and think I’m going to have a go.
Brody you should give it ago it’s great fun but hard work. I’ll take some pictures of my test piece and show you where I went wrong
