    The carousel is approx 150mm high and 50mm dia made from purple heart and i’m not too sure about the central shaft it could be chestnut but was selected for a contrast. I had not turned purple heart before but apart from blunting the tools quite quickly it turned well, the colour was fairly bland after turning but once it had been left in the window for a day the purple returned and my wife suitably impressed.

    Great idea! I need one of those dot com. I like purpleheart, but hate the waste hollowing out a bowl because of the cost. If I had a bowlsaver I might buy more.
