      Hi broadsea

the effect is really cause by the burr and ripple patten in the wood, you give the wood a light wash of colour and let it dry once dry you sand back a bit without removing all the colour and then apply another light coat of colour. I repeated this 4 or 5 times so I was happy. Then I built up a coating of CA as a finishing top coat.

If your going to try this make sure that the surface is prefect, the colour will show any highlight marks.
